Danger on the Road

Adolecents do not understand how dangerous alcohol is to the brain. “In 2008, more than 11,773 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes “according to Livestrong. Teens are not apprehending how much damage it can do to yourself and others on the road. Teen drinking and driving is at a all time high, and not only is it tormenting you, its also traumatizing innocent people around you driving.

Teen drinking and driving can take a toll on you, has negative impacts on the adolecent brain development, and has a greater chance of being alcohol dependent.

Drinking as a young teenager can affect a major part of your brain, the prefrontal cortex. This can cause your brain to make severe changes that can be long term and irreversible.“It impairs your driving and I believe its a problem for teens” stated Officer Varner, school resource officer at Memorial High School. As you grow older, it might be a struggle to store new information.

Drinking at a young age, can sometimes lead to becoming an alcohol dependent. When you drink, it releases “feel-good” chemicals and you keep wanting to repeat it. “Children who begin drinking at the age 13 have a 45% chance of becoming alcohol-dependent” ccording to Livestrong. As you continue drinking, your tolerance will become higher and it becomes a craving, which will lead to addiction.

In conclusion, teen drinking and driving has negative impacts all the way around, it affects your brain negatively, and gives you a chance to becoming an alcohol dependent. Don’t risk your life or others, just to “feel good” because at the end it affects you way worse.
