Era of Podcasts

Podcast refers to a series of digital audio or video files which a user can download and listen to. With celebrities such as Amy Schumer, Ashley Graham, and Jonathan Van Ness hosting their own, podcast has become one of the biggest trends in recent years.

There are few factors behind this phenomenon. First, podcasts attract a wide range of audiences as it comes in a variety of genres: educational, gaming, sports, religious and spiritual, music, news, politics, and more. Furthermore, there are so many different ways and places to listen to podcasts, and they don’t distract from other important tasks that needs to be completed.

“As a content-obsessed millennial, I have made podcasts part of my daily routine for years,” said Rachel Smith, a writer from The New York Times, “I listen while commuting, cooking, running errands, putting away laundry, washing dishes or during any relatively mindless activity that can be done while wearing wireless headphones.”

However, the trend has not reached teens; many think it is boring or would rather spend time on netflix or listening to music. This is slowly changing with popular social media influencers among teens such as Emma Chamberlain starting her podcast, Stupid Genius, which hit number 1 in 50 countries following its release.

Podcast brings many benefits; it helps improve multitasking skills and makes better use of time. Also, you can learn new things and absorb useful information. If you want to start listening, you can begin with the default Podcast app on iPhone or Spotify, which offers a diverse selection of podcasts.
