Things to Do While at Home

Are you bored? Stuck at home with nothing to do? Has your screen time gone up exponentially as you stare at your phone for hours on end trying to escape boredom? Are you trying to figure out what else to do but just can’t think of anything as you practice social distancing during this pandemic? Well you’re in luck because a list of things to do while at home has been made for you!

Try painting. According to Fox Hill Residences, painting boosts memory recollection skills, helps to sharpen the mind through conceptual visualization, and improves creative skills. It can also serve as a stress relief to some degree in people, which  seems pretty important during this time of struggle. Besides brain and health benefits, it helps to pass the time and is fun to challenge yourself to create something.

Go on a walk. Keep to social distancing however by going alone or in small groups and only go on one a day. Walking is a simple yet great form of exercise. Although you may not notice, walking can boost your energy, improve your mood, and strengthen your heart.Walking trails or going around the neighborhood allows you to enjoy the day and nature around you. So put on some running shoes and get outside!

Watch a show with friends on Netflix Party. If you’re missing your friends while you’re practicing self isolation at home, add Netflix Party to your chrome extension. This allows you to synchronize video playback and adds a group chat to your Netflix shows. Now you can link up with your friends over a long distance and experience the joy, sadness, horror, and surprise on whatever show you decide has to offer.

Watch an entire movie collection. While on the topic of Netflix shows, Universal Pictures is releasing a number of movies through Apple, On Demand, and Amazon. Other streaming platforms such as Disney and Hulu have entire movie collections like Star Wars, Marvel movies, and Twilight that will keep you seated for hours on end. Grab multiple snacks, jump into your favorite comfy clothes, and get to streaming!

Call family and friends. Check in on your family members and let them know how you are. During this time of uncertainty we all need comfort (from a safe distance) and to stand together instead of turning on one another. The future is unpredictable so don’t wait, talk to that family member that you haven’t spoken to in awhile, call your best friend even if you just want to tell them you miss them. There is no better time than the present.
