Indian-American teen Anike Chebrolu, 14, just won a national middle school scientist competition called the 3M Young Scientist Challenge by discovering a molecule that could potentially lead to life-saving COVID-19 treatment.

The molecule is said to be able to bind to a certain protein of the Coronavirus and prevent it from developing.Never stop asking questions.

Anike Chebrolu She decided to take part in the challenge after she became gravely ill with the flu last year. Fans on Twitter showed their support for the young scientist, including Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu.

Chebrolu also got $25,000 in her pocket for the historic win. When she grows up , she wants to continue her incredible science journey by becoming a medical researcher and a professor.Over 40 million people worldwide have been infected with COVID-19, so she might just be the hero we all need.
