Earth Day Tips – What can you do?

April 22nd is Earth Day and this year, many organizations are designating all of April to create awareness of all the things they can do to help protect the planet we live on. Here is a list of tips that are very doable in your daily life. We hope you take the time to read and implement one or more of these into your routine.

We can all be more conscious about what we buy, and where we buy it from. Buying less will save you money, reduce waste and improve your environmental footprint.

We can use water bottles instead of buying plastic water bottles because it helps reduce the amounts of plastic littered in the environment.

Saving electricity or energy can help the environment. Most of the world’s electricity comes from power plants, and by saving electricity, we can reduce the amount of toxic fumes released by power plants. This can result in reducing air and water pollution and can conserve natural resources. In addition, saving electricity can cause people to have a healthier lifestyle, saves money, and creates more jobs for people.

Cleaning public places of litter like parks or schools. By removing litter it keeps pollution lower and can protect animals.

How to help earth is to recycle plastic like water bottles, soda cans, and glass. Easily to break them down into raw materials and make them into new products.

Planting a tree helps the environment because it provides food and oxygen. With that, planting a tree can also help save energy and help clean the air.

To help the Earth we need to encourage teens to keep showers a little shorter. A way to keep it short is getting bathroom-safe speakers that they can use with their phone and limit shower time to the length of a couple of favorite few songs.

Unplugging electronic devices when they are not in use helps reduce your electrical use.  Even when you are not directly using something electrical, as long as it’s plugged in, it’s still drawing electricity.

By using reusable bags you can help take care of our environment. Normally when you buy something from a store they give you plastic bags. Plastic is very horrible for the environment from getting stuck in the oceans to getting stuck on fences and being left floating around the streets. This is why reusable bags are the best option because they will reduce the amount of plastic in our environment. And we will have a cleaner place to live.

Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room!

If you grow your own garden, you are the one to decide what goes on your plants and into your soil, allowing you to reduce the amount of harmful chemicals polluting our environment and waterways.
