Wakeland Boys Varsity Wins 5A State Title
The Wakeland Bobcats finished their soccer season with a total of 24 wins,1 draw, and 1 loss. The Bobcats played Kingwood Park Panthers; the game was neck and neck, with neither team playing at home. “The Frisco Wakeland students are ready for 5A state title game,” says Dallas news reporter, Joseph Hoyt
The game was intense with both teams giving their all and both teams aggressively going after the ball. It seems as though both teams were nonstop, with Wakeland making several attempts at the goal in the first half of the game, but were stopped by Thor Yeager, a senior goalkeeper at Kingwood Park who was extremely consistent with his game. Another player of note on the Kingwood Park was senior Gage Guerra, who scored 2 goals. Wakeland had to respond to this with spades and they did, while the first 45 min saw the game largely in Kingwood’s favor. As soon as the 2nd half began Wakeland came over the top, in a nail-biting match, finishing the game at 3-2. Jak Keith was the player who scored the deciding goal.
The Bobcats returned home via bus with an escort by the Frisco police with the season wrapping up. The varsity team can finally rest after an extremely accomplished season. This was the last season for three members of the team, who are graduating this year.
“An amazing season and program”, says Frisco ISD sports Twitter.
