Style Over The Decades

As known, the average teens style has changed a lot over the decades, even coming back with past decade styles as of now. In which, we throughout this article will go over past decade styles from the 1950s and up. Seeing the extravagant difference but also similarities.

1950s: key designs for the decade included dresses with cinched waists, pencil skirts, poodle skirts, gingham and polka dot garments, cropped sweaters and cardigans, and much more.

1960s: ponchos, moccasins, love beads, peace signs, medallion necklaces, chain belts, polka dot-printed fabrics, and long, puffed “bubble” sleeves were popular fashions in the late 1960s. Both men and women wore frayed bell-bottom jeans, tie-dyed shirts, work shirts, Jesus sandals, and headbands.

1970s: popular early 1970s fashions for women included Tie dye shirts, Mexican ‘peasant’ blouses, folk-embroidered Hungarian blouses, ponchos, capes, and military surplus clothing. Bottom attire for women during this time included bell-bottoms, gauchos, frayed jeans, midi skirts, and ankle-length maxi dresses.

1980s: the 1980s were a decade of bold style, colors, and silhouettes—and heaping amounts of permed hair & mullets. With trends spanning ripped tights and biker jackets, polished oversized blazers, spandex and poof skirts;

1990s: popular clothing items were black or red leather (or pleather) pants, fitted shirts, halter tops, cropped tanks, flared pants, and platform shoes.

2000s: denim became a staple for men and women, going beyond jeans to shirts, jackets, and hats. If you’re putting together a casual style for women, think crop tops, hoodies, low-rise flared jeans, cargo pants, daisy dukes, jean skirts, off the shoulder tops, ribbed sweaters, with platform sandals, Ugg boots, or sneakers

2010s: the 2010s were defined by hipster fashion, athleisure, a revival of austerity-era period pieces and alternative fashions, swag-inspired outfits, 1980s-style neon streetwear, and unisex 1990s-style elements influenced by grunge and skater fashions.

2021(now): many things are now even coming back in 2021. Like, mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, patterned pants, cropped cardigans, jordans, vintage crop tops & hoodies, plaid cropped tops, flannels and even more. People in this decade, devote themselves to be “aesthetic”, wearing more vintage outfits. With people wearing normal styles like, hoodies, ripped jeans, cropped tops, sweatshirts, biker shorts, oversized tees & hoodies, hoodies with leggings or jeans, nikes, converse, and many more as well.

In which, as you can tell, the styles have changed many times throughout the past decades, with many things even coming back this year, being a vintage year in a way.
